Dear First Pres Friends,
I am writing to you from home today. Kate and the kids are adjusting to days spent together without school and activities. And while these are difficult changes to our lives it is important for us to take the social distancing precautions seriously.
At a meeting Tuesday of religious leaders with the Chautauqua Department of Health we were encouraged:
Do not panic. Stay informed. The CDC has up to date information.
Normalize your life as best you can. Create and maintain a regular schedule to follow
Take care of yourself. Eat right. Exercise.
Do not go to the hospital emergency room. Call your doctor first.
Check in on your neighbors. Call them on the phone.
This week First Pres. and First Covenant will join together for Drive-in Worship at 10:00am. You read that right. Drive-in Worship. Pastor Adam bought a FM transmitter that we are connecting to the First Covenant sound system. So we are going to gather together for worship in our cars. Drive to church this Sunday, park in one of our parking lots, stay in your car, and tune your car stereo to 90.7 (I think). The worship bulletin is included as an attachment to this email.
If you can’t make Drive-in Worship we are live streaming worship from the First Pres. Chapel starting at 10:30. Visit the website (firstpresjamestown.com) and in the bottom right hand corner you will see a video, just click on that and join us for worship.
We are working on ways to stay in touch, setting up groups to check in one another, on Monday we will have opportunities for study through our website, and if you have any other ideas for connecting with one another please share them with the office.
We are also hoping to create a list of volunteers who might be able to make runs to the store and help out our most vulnerable members. If you are interested and able please email the office.
And lastly, if you need help or need to talk please call the church office (487-1984) or me (499-7217). We are available and will try to find you the help you need.

Friday March 20th - The Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo told New York’s residents to stay indoors as much as possible and ordered nonessential businesses to keep all of their workers home. He also mandated strict rules for people over 70 and with underlying illnesses, allowing them to go outside only for solitary exercise, requiring them to wear masks when in the company of others and barring them from visiting households with multiple people, among other requirements.
